Chege’s parents agree on almost everything apart from Chege and I dating. Chege’s mother supports us fully while the father doesn’t. His father said that he had a dream that Chege has to marry a Kikuyu.
Everyone was against his dream but Chege’s father never changes his mind. He’s sure his dreams come to pass and this is to pass too. Chege’s mother fought him to no avail. Chege and his siblings opposed him too but he threatened to throw them out if they go against his wishes. His favorite brother talked to him too but he is still adamant.
Chege’s family knows me. I’m the storyteller everywhere so I can easily be spotted. Chege calls me his radio. When I’m quiet, he gets really worried. I’m only quiet when I’m sick or hungry.
“My child, I don’t hate you. I wish you the best in everything but you and Chege were never meant to be. I had a dream that Chege has to get a Kikuyu and my dreams do come true. I don’t want you to be a single mother. It’s better you take an early exit. You’ll find a good man some day.”
“Baba Chege you can’t oppose this. Your dream may be misleading. Let them be. I like Irene, she’s nice. If Chege loves her then let them be.” Chege’s mother defended us.
“No. My word is final. Let this lady go. Chege will heartbreak her. They’re not meant to be.”
“My word is also final. Irene is staying. We’re all supporting her, why are you being stubborn? We all love her. Let them be.”
“Chege will not marry her. If he has to, then you have to wait for me to die first. I still have 20 years left. If she can wait for 20 years then it’s okay. But they won’t conceive a baby as they’re waiting.” Chege’s father was still adamant.
“Baba Chege we shall wait. Even if you die after 25 years, we shall wait. Irene is here to stay.”
We broke up in 2022 after 3 years because of a lot of becauses. One of the becauses was the father who vowed never to bless us no matter the convincing his family gave him. I’m not patient, I can’t wait for someone to change his mind.
Chege went ahead and started dating Kikuyus. His mother has never supported any of his relationships and is still hopeful that I’ll go back. She even tells the women that I’d go back one day. The father supports the Kikuyu women that Chege dumps later.
Chege has a bad habit of drunk calling and drunk texting me. He knows I ignore his numbers at night so he uses new numbers. He will use this opportunity to remind me that he’s holding my star/luck in marriage and if I don’t go back I will try getting into many relationships to no avail. He will even remind me that my future mother in law will hate me because I’m loud.

remind her that she’s wasting time because Chege will marry me and his father will tell her to hold on until Chege forgets me.
Yesterday, Chege texted again that he has my luck and if I don’t go back, I’ll be roaming this earth like Cain with no proper explanation of what I want in a man. He finished by threatening to hang himself.
